In form Werrimull blitz Nangiloc in Millewa League Preliminary Final

In an upset, a lack lustre Nangiloc were swamped in the last quarter by an in-form Werrimull in the Millewa League Preliminary Final played at Gol Gol on Sunday.

.Nangiloc went into the game without Ryan Dowdy (hamstring) with Braydon Ottrey his replacement while Jamie Keenan was added to the Werrimull side after Aaron Milner was injured during the week.

It was a level first quarter while in the second Werrimull peppered the goals and should have been much further in front than just three goals at the half time break.

Nangiloc were not playing well but they were still in the game until Robert Lindsay came out on the lead to mark strongly but he could not take his kick because of a hamstring injury.

He had been hard pressed to get away from Larry Petrolo, who then had the task of minding David Keens, who went to full forward.

Werrimull’s Jay Savage, who went to the ruck with Milner out, was doing a great job against Nangiloc’s Ned Duthie.

But a five goals to three last term gave Werrimul a deserved victory and a crack at Bambill in next week’s Grand Final at Lake Cullulleraine.

Nangiloc Coach Nathan Grayling was unimpressed with the effort of some of his players and announced he had quit as coach.

Lindsay also indicated after yet another hamstring injury, that his career was over and he was now retired.
